Good afternoon, Juan C. Blanco, ITT’s Director of Product Licensing, chiming back in with yet another Innovation Direct™-related update. Following up on a company we had last reported on during a June 6th entry (”Update: ITT Licensing™ seeks update on latest Innovation Direct™ package from California-based automotive products manufacturer…“), the ITT Licensing™ representative managing the Innovation Direct™ account of a California-based automotive products manufacturer has requested and received an update from the President and CEO of the firm regarding the material he’d received on 10 inventions in his company’s latest package.

As per the reply received, the gentleman stated he did not have record of ever having received the information, which incidentally, we reported had been sent in an April 22nd entry (”Update: ITT Licensing™ sends 10 invention Innovation Direct™ package to California-based automotive products company…“). Consequently, the ITT Licensing™ representative promptly resent the contact access to the detailed design information on the 10 items earlier Tuesday, and as per the gentleman’s subsequent communication, we should be receiving his impressions of the material by week’s end. As we’ve explained previously, due to a permanent non-disclosure agreement between this company and ITT Licensing™, we are able to send them immediate access to the confidential information on each product idea.

As we’ve done so far, we’ll continue to provide updates on this situation as it evolves. Check in often!

Hello, Juan C. Blanco, ITT’s Director of Product Licensing, back with an update on a situation we had most recently reported on in an August 7th entry (”Update: ITT Licensing™ receives long overdue communication from California-based infomercial company on initial Innovation Direct™ package…“). As we’d explained in that posting, we had heard back on that date from a colleague of the individual that had served as our company contact up to that point, and she had informed us that our contact was no longer with them.

At our new contact’s request, we had resent her the preliminary, non-confidential information on 15 inventions from the ITT roster that had been contained in their initial Innovation Direct™ package but had not received any further feedback since that point. Consequently, the ITT Licensing™ representative managing this situation since the onset had felt it prudent to send another follow-up communication at this point.

We are pleased to report that a response was received from our new contact, wherein she explained that the company’s Chief Executive Officer would be the one we would deal with directly going forward. She also made a request that we resend the Innovation Direct™ package to him, which the aforementioned ITT Licensing™ representative promptly complied with.

This situation obviously continues to be fluid one, although we are particularly pleased to apparently have direct access to a major decision maker within this company from this point onward. Stay tuned to the ITT Blog for the latest updates!

The ITT Licensing™ representative that manages this company’s Innovation Direct™ account has now made a third follow-up attempt with our contact at the company.

Hello, Juan C. Blanco, ITT’s Director of Product Licensing, back once again with another report. Earlier Monday, ITT Licensing™ sent preliminary, non-confidential information and a non-disclosure agreement regarding a personal medical accessory to a California-based company that already manufactures, markets, and distributes several products in this category.

This situation was initiated by the inventor, who had an e-mail exchange with a representative of the company in recent days regarding the fact that he had an invention that he was seeking to eventually license. The manufacturer’s representative had indicated an interest in learning more about the nature of the item, and the inventor had consequently forwarded us a copy of the communications so that we could integrate ourselves into the situation. Accordingly, the ITT Licensing™ representative that will be managing the situation sent the aforementioned material to the company contact earlier this morning.

If and when we receive an indication of further interest or other communication from this company we will bring you the details, here on the ITT Blog. Make us a frequent stop!

Good Monday morning, Juan C. Blanco, ITT’s Director of Product Licensing, chiming in with the first update of the week. Earlier Monday, the ITT Licensing™ representative that has been managing the advanced level of interest in 3 computer accessories from our roster being displayed by a New Jersey-based manufacturer that works closely with our West Coast-based industry partner received an update via e-mail regarding the inventions. As per the communication received from our West Coast-based industry partner today, the company will not be pursuing the development or commercialization of the items any further. We had most recently reported on this situation, and the fact that the inventions had become subjects of signed exclusive developmental agreements, in a June 26th entry (”Update: ITT Licensing™ receives 3 signed exclusive developmental agreements for computer accessories from New Jersey-based company…“).

Our aforementioned industry partner did not have additional details to offer regarding the reasons why the company has opted to cease their work on the concepts, but this itself is not surprising. The reality is that stumbling blocks such as these often emerge in the pursuit of an invention to market, and the key is to forge ahead in spite of them if there is to be any opportunity for eventual success.

Hello, Juan C. Blanco, ITT’s Director of Product Licensing, checking in with our second and final Friday update. Following up on a situation we had initially reported on in a July 15th entry (”ITT Licensing™ inventor’s personal medical product receives initial interest from Tennessee-based manufacturer; non-disclosure agreement sent…“), ITT has sent a follow-up letter and second copy of a non-disclosure agreement to a Tennessee-based manufacturer that expressed interest in learning more about a personal medical accessory from our roster after having reviewed preliminary, non-confidential information regarding it.

As per our customary procedure, the ITT Licensing™ representative managing the matter had sent the company contact a non-disclosure agreement in mid-July in response to the company’s request for more details. With a month having elapsed since that communication, the today’s letter and second copy of the NDA were sent as a means of hopefully prompting the manufacturer into action and taking the next step in reviewing all of the available information on the invention.

If and when there are any further developments with this situation we will certainly bring you the details, here on the ITT Blog. Check in often!

Hello, Juan C. Blanco, ITT’s Director of Product Licensing, checking in with a Friday report. Earlier Friday, ITT Licensing™ sent a follow-up letter and e-mail to the Director of Engineering of a Georgia-based manufacturer that had requested more details on a home improvement invention from our roster recently, and that had been sent a non-disclosure agreement in response back on July 17th (”ITT Licensing™ inventor’s home improvement accessory receipient of initial interest from Georgia-based manufacturer; non-disclosure agreement sent…“).

The follow-up letter was also accompanied by a second copy of the aforementioned non-disclosure agreement, as per our normal procedure. We are certainly hopeful that this will prompt the company to return the guarantee of confidentiality signed, so that we may proceed with providing them with access to all of the detailed design information available for the product idea, but only time will tell.

We’ll continue to provide any pertinent updates regarding this situation here on the ITT Blog. Stay tuned for the latest!

Hello, Juan C. Blanco, ITT’s Director of Product Licensing, checking in with an update on a situation we had initially reported on in an August 11th entry (”Update: ITT Licensing™ inventor’s specialized carpeting idea receiving initial interest from Georgia-based manufacturer…“). As we had explained in that posting, a Georgia-based manufacturer had expressed initial interest in a product idea from the ITT roster after reviewing preliminary, non-confidential information about it and had been sent a non-disclosure agreement by ITT Licensing™ in response.

We have now received a response from our contact at the company explaining that after further deliberation, they will not be pursuing the invention any further. As explained in the contact’s e-mail to ITT, they are a contract manufacturer that does not have the marketing capabilities required to potentially license and subsequently distribute the product into the consumer market.

This minor setback nonwithstanding, ITT will continue undeterred in its mission to achieve licensing success with this invention. Stay tuned to the ITT Blog for the latest!

Hello, Juan C. Blanco, ITT’s Director of Product Licensing, checking in with an update regarding New Jersey-based Inventures, LLC, a company that we had met at the recent ASI Show Chicago last month. We had initially reported on this company within one of our July 24th entries (”ITT Licensing™ enjoys fast start to Day 2 of ASI Show Chicago 2008…“).

As we’d explained in that posting, the company had expressed an interest in receiving new product idea information from ITT Licensing™ on a regular basis. At the time that we had sent the company a follow-up e-mail shortly after the show’s conclusion, we had also included preliminary, non-confidential information and a non-disclosure agreement for a personal medical accessory from the ITT roster that we thought would potentially fit well with their product lines and would be a good starting point for the relationship between the two companies.

We had not received a response to that communication until earlier Wednesday, when the Director of Operations and co-owner of the company explained that they had been overwhelmed with follow-ups stemming from their activities at the show, but that they would be returning the signed non-disclosure agreement shortly.

Naturally, we are pleased with this development and will also be working on putting the company’s initial Innovation Direct™ package together shortly. Join us here on the ITT Blog for any and all future updates to this situation.

Hello, Juan C. Blanco, ITT’s Director of Product Licensing, checking in with our Tuesday update, which once again involves yet another ITT Licensing™ inventor product concept being the subject of interest. In this case, the invention is a specialized currency accessory and it has caught the eye of a manufacturer that has already signed a non-disclosure agreement in order to view detailed design information on the item.

The inventor performed the initial legwork in this case and was able to use a generic copy of a non-disclosure agreement that ITT Licensing™ had recently provided him at his request to have the manufacturer agree to confidentiality. He has now informed ITT that he has sent us the signed NDA for our records, which we should have in a couple of days. Once it has been received and processed, we will be able to provide the company with access to all of the detailed design information available for the product idea.

Stay tuned to the ITT Blog for all developments regarding this situation!
